The Last Leaves

The last of the leaves have fallen from the trees and temperatures have started to... well... drop and rise again. Only in Indiana, right? It was snowing just a few days ago and now it practically feels like Spring! How is a girl to dress?

I always thought this would be a shirt I wore in the Summer, but it's so perfect for my Fall/Winter wardrobe! I just love it paired with my favorite blazer and this herringbone skirt. I love adding a fun print to an otherwise neutral (and potentially boring) outfit.

Monday Musings

1. Dog Arrested in Elf Attack: I have mixed feelings about "dog shaming", but these photos are just hilarious. The owner of this adorable Boston Terrier knew exactly how to play this up. My mother has a Boston Terrier and they are just the funniest dogs - just look at that face!

2. L.L. Bean Sale: L.L. Bean is having a 25% off sale with free shipping with the code HOLIDAY! You know you're dying for a pair of Bean Boots and now is the time to click buy! The sale ends tomorrow, December 11th, so shop while you can.

3. Avengers Infinity War: I seriously cannot stop watching this trailer. May 2018 cannot come soon enough. Cap is back! The Guardians! This is everything we have been waiting for since the first Iron Man film.

4. Goodreads Best Books of 2017: The annual list of best books has arrived from Goodreads! I love when this list comes out. Sometimes I've read a few of the nominees and sometimes I didn't realize those books existed. I love and hate this list because I always seem to add at least 20 books to my "to read" list. Check it out!

5. Riverdale Cast Plays Truth or Dare: If you haven't watched Riverdale, you're so missing out. To be fair though, I haven't caught up on the second season. This video of some of the cast playing truth or dare (for Teen Vogue) is just too adorable. Seriously, they are the best bunch! ROCKET POWER.

6. Slippers and Sleep Masks: These LC Lauren Conrad slippers are amazing. I had been looking for new slippers that weren't the usual slip-on variety. These are cozy and stylish. The sleep mask that comes with them makes the set too sweet to resist. You can get the set for $15.29 through December 24th with the code SAVEMORE20.

First Snowfall

We had our first snowfall in Indiana! I had to just jump right out there even though I was still in my pajamas. To be fair, these are rather spectacular pajamas. Waking up to snow is just so magical.

This coat is basically sold out, but the J. Crew Factory City Coat is always a good choice. You can still snag this adorable plaid pajama set at Target though!

Put A Bow On It

This bow sweater is a dream. Unfortunately, it is sold out, but here is another beautiful option. Fingers crossed J. Crew Factory decides to bring this back because I may need the cream version. Edit: Nordstrom has the sweater in stock in grey, cream, and pink for $79.50. Click here!

While I wore this to work, this outfit would make a great holiday party option! Just add one plaid skirt, one sweater with embellishments, one fun layer, and one pair of festive shoes. Stay cozy and stylish! Embellished sweaters are definitely a holiday staple - wear them with a full skirt or a pair of jeans. As I get older, I find myself drawn to the more "casual" holiday looks. This outfit is a perfect mixture!

Sweater Vest

Indiana's weather this time of year is extremely finicky. One day temperatures can reach a high in the 60's and the next day a high in the 30's. Occasionally, the day will start in the low 30's and rise to the 60's. Honestly, it's a wonder I don't pack a suitcase every time I leave the house.

That is why this time of year I love a good vest. I don't have many, but I plan on investing in more! I love this faux fur option because I can wear it running errands or to work. A faux fur vest will make even your most simple outfit just a little more glamorous. My favorite vest outfit always includes layering over a sweater!

10 Things To Do That Aren't Black Friday Shopping

As someone who has worked in retail and worked a few Black Fridays, I know the toll it can take. With stores opening earlier and earlier every year and online stores opening their sales earlier, the thrill of actually shopping has lost its luster. Now people forego time with family members and rush to their nearest department store... by 2 pm on Thursday! I was just starting my second dinner by 2 pm.

I am not opposed to going to stores on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but if I do it's during normal business hours. Let's face it, we would like to keep some brick and mortar stores around! Listed below are things you can do that don't involve getting pushed around by sleep deprived shoppers yelling at store clerks.

1. Breakfast in bed.

2. Depending on the weather in your area, go on a hike.

3. Volunteer! Just because Thanksgiving is over doesn't mean places don't need help.

4. Finish that book.

5. Snuggle with your dogs or children on the couch covered in blankets.

6. If you celebrate Christmas, clean the house to prepare for the decorations.

7. Have a Harry Potter movie marathon.

8. Bake!

9. Have a special brunch or lunch with family members you weren't able to see over Thanksgiving.

10. Take a moment, drink that hot chocolate or coffee, and remember you're still alive. Then go inside that store, because I know you're not going to not shop.

Stay safe out there! If you're in central Indiana, it is a perfect day to be out and about.

Camel and Grey

I love color, but sometimes neutrals are just fabulous. This J. Crew Factory blazer is my favorite. I had been searching for a camel blazer for the longest time and finally just decided this was the best option (which it definitely is). I could wear it every day to work and play.

The first time I saw this dress was on Carly's (from Carly the Prepster) Instagram stories. I had to do some research as I am always a bit wary of swing and sweater dresses. I actually bought this dress in the store. I probably wouldn't have made the jump if I hadn't seen it in the stores. This dress is amazing. I honestly wish I had bought it in the mustard color too (going through a no shopping thing right now). The fabric is light weight and I would hesitate to officially call it a sweater dress, but that is how it lays. You can find a petite and tall version online - this is the regular option in an XS.

Looks like fall, but feels like winter.
