Monday Musings

You may have noticed (or not, does anyone actually read this blog?) that I have been a bit absent. Work has been a little more crazy than usual and I've been finding myself needing more R&R. I'm not sure if it's actually helping, but this blog has continued to be at the back of my mind. I'm bringing myself back because this is also rest and relaxation for me. I can't promise I'll be consistent, but I will do my best.

Indy 500: This year was my first time going to the Indy 500. I went to the Brickyard 400 about 10 (or more) years ago. I didn't enjoy that experience. I felt more prepared for sitting around for 500 laps this time around. The start of the race was cool. The crashes are entertaining, but also anxiety inducing. About three or four crashes happened near us. It was unbelievably hot. At the hottest, I believe it was 91°F/33°C. Pictured above is what I wore - and I still sweat through everything. The ending was great to watch - congrats Will Power! Would I go back? Yes, but only if the temperatures stay below 85°F/29°C. It was fun hanging out with my husband at least.

Good Mythical Morning: I may have mentioned before that my husband and I are on a YouTube watching kick. It's been a minute, but I've gotten really into Good Mythical Morning. These two best friends do silly things every day and I just love it. I think the friendship is really what makes it. Click here for one of their newer videos. You won't regret it.

J. Crew Factory Eyelet Shirt Dress: I don't believe I'll ever make it through one of these posts without mentioning something from J. Crew Factory. This particular dress is worth mentioning. J. Crew was selling this dress a few months ago and of course it sold out. J. Crew Factory brought it back! You can click here to purchase. It comes in a navy and green color - I bought the navy and am considering hitting "add to cart" for the green.

Tervis: One of my Residents was so kind to give me a 30 oz. Tervis stainless steel tumbler (I work in Property Management). I love tumblers, but never really got into the Yeti trend. The Tervis cups are more wallet friendly and still do a great job at keeping your drink cold (I haven't tried hot drinks). The one I have is this floral design. They have so many cute options too! I've been using mine strictly for water and I've definitely increased my water intake. Hooray for fun cups!

Old Navy and J. Crew Mercantile Haul

I love my job. Not only do I enjoy what I do day to day, but there are such great perks! One of those perks is our clothing allowance. Each Spring and Fall, JC Hart gives us a set amount to spend on updated pieces for our wardrobes. As a style blogger, this is especially amazing. I get paid to shop? Oh yeah! This video is my haul - enjoy!

Sun's Out Stripes Out

The sun is out and I'm doing a happy dance! I've mostly decided no more tights or hosiery until (next) winter. I will suffer through until temperatures continue to rise.

I've been into stripes more than usual. Stripe dresses, skirts, and shirts. That's all I want to wear and nearly buy. I recently organized my closet and purged quite a few items. I've rediscovered some loved pieces and I have been inspired to create better and newer outfits with what I already own. Classic outfits like this one are vibe-ing well with me at the moment. It's easier and works for this weird in between the seasons moment. Plus, what's better than navy and stripes? Navy stripes?

Anchors Away

I have caught spring fever. All I want to do is wear the pieces in my closet without having to layer a coat over them! Even my beloved sweaters are starting to wither in lieu of pieces like this anchor blouse. Of course, Indiana has other plans. It was just snowing the other day!

I'm really loving blues right now. And mixing my blues at that. I was always the person who hated wearing denim and blue shirts. Now, I look for those combinations! The surprising mixture of this (royal?) blue anchor blouse with the stripe chambray skirt is so pleasing.

What are you exciting to wear as the weather warms?

Cupcakes and Chiffon

I ventured out into the world to shoot this outfit! I dragged my tripod to the Flying Cupcake in Greenwood and ate some delicious treats. I don't have a photographer that follows me around, I set up my iPhone 7 Plus with the timer on my tripod and shoot. I tend to stay in my yard (or near it) or the grounds at work. I feel very awkward and anxious shooting in public spaces - especially with a tripod. I pushed through it today and I'm so glad I did! The Flying Cupcake is so whimsical and cozy - perfect for showing off this Loft blouse. Oh, and there were cupcakes.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Whatever you're doing today, I hope it is filled with love.

I've said it before, Valentine's Day is not my thing. I do, however, love hearts and wearing red and pink together. I stopped at my local Dollar Tree and picked up these heart shaped balloons. Props for less! You'll find me out and about on the 15th looking for clearance items in the shape of hearts.

Winter Florals

I bought this dress months ago, but wore it for the first time the other day (it's on sale!). The tulip-hem is so flattering. It's just been too cold. My dresses have not been loved this winter. I can't wait to bring out my favorite dresses this spring! And I'm so over tights. What are you looking forward to wearing (or not wearing) this spring?
