Cupcakes and Chiffon

I ventured out into the world to shoot this outfit! I dragged my tripod to the Flying Cupcake in Greenwood and ate some delicious treats. I don't have a photographer that follows me around, I set up my iPhone 7 Plus with the timer on my tripod and shoot. I tend to stay in my yard (or near it) or the grounds at work. I feel very awkward and anxious shooting in public spaces - especially with a tripod. I pushed through it today and I'm so glad I did! The Flying Cupcake is so whimsical and cozy - perfect for showing off this Loft blouse. Oh, and there were cupcakes.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Whatever you're doing today, I hope it is filled with love.

I've said it before, Valentine's Day is not my thing. I do, however, love hearts and wearing red and pink together. I stopped at my local Dollar Tree and picked up these heart shaped balloons. Props for less! You'll find me out and about on the 15th looking for clearance items in the shape of hearts.

Winter Florals

I bought this dress months ago, but wore it for the first time the other day (it's on sale!). The tulip-hem is so flattering. It's just been too cold. My dresses have not been loved this winter. I can't wait to bring out my favorite dresses this spring! And I'm so over tights. What are you looking forward to wearing (or not wearing) this spring?

Valentine's Day Inspiration

Valentine's Day is almost here! Whether or not you enjoy this particular holiday or not, it is fun to wear red and pink together without judgement. I am one of those people who aren't fond of Valentine's Day, but loves hearts. Late January and early February are the perfect times to collect everything heart printed and shaped.

Below are a few outfits to give you some inspiration on what to wear this Valentine's Day (which is, of course, on a Tuesday).

Winter Colors

Winter is so dreary. This particular winter has been the coldest and dreariest in a while. When the temperature nearly reached 60°F the other day, I jumped at the chance to dress my best and brightest! And, hello, no tights! I just love this Gap sweater. I definitely tend to wear neutrals way more, but these multi-colored stripes mixed with neutral stripes are killing it. I would normally wear a black skirt with a sweater like this, but I went all out with the pink ruffle skirt. It's a favorite outfit to date for sure. How are you beating the winter blues?

SAG Award Red Carpet Favorites

There was not a lot of major color on the SAG red carpet, but these looks really stood out. Kristen Bell's magenta was the perfect contrast to the pale pink looks. Reese Witherspoon's emerald and Mandy Moore's blue gowns were stunning. I immediately want to run out and buy dresses in those three colors. Brie Larson's dress was a beautiful floral which is obviously perfect for Spring, but the sleeves and deep v-cut kept the look from feeling dowdy.

Pale pink was all over the red carpet. As the snows thaw, it is a breath of fresh air to see a color so light. Dakota Fanning, Margot Robbie, and Millie Bobby Brown were my favorite looks. Dakota is ballerina perfect. Margot is simply stunning with her belt of feathers. And Millie is Baby Spice.

Would it be a red carpet without some sparkle? Allison Williams, Halle Berry, and Olivia Munn shined the brightest. Allison's dark hair and red lip, Halle's utter perfection, and Olivia's simple hair and makeup made these looks.

After the Holidays

Even though the holiday season is over, I'm still obsessed with my plaids (in this case a buffalo check) and fair isle sweaters - especially together.  Each year I find myself setting aside my favorite sweaters and tops because they're meant for the holidays. Generally, that means I'm not getting the wear out of them that I would like. I'm changing my ways! Just like wearing white after Labor Day, we should be wearing our holiday favorites through the winter. And I'm just really loving this combo - it's very 'winter' without being too Christmas Eve.
