Pom Pom Hats

I love bringing out my coziest knits. That includes beanies and pom hats! Since I decided to grow out my fringe, I have grabbed nearly every pom hat I could get my hands on. This Target one is probably my favorite, but I also rotate hats made by family members. See below for some of my favorites this season!

Ruffles and More Ruffles

This skirt.
I have actually been searching for the perfect pink skirt and had been eyeballing this J. Crew skirt for ages. One day I happened upon it on Nordstrom's website and noticed it was on sale. Because of the price range I put the pink and navy in my cart. By the time I went to check out, the navy had sold out! I am so glad to have scooped up the pink option - it is perfect. The fit is flattering and the fabric is sturdy. J. Crew - please bring this back! I need the mustard and navy!

I am trying to step outside my comfort zone and have been acquiring basic, but colorful bottom pieces. I either turn to a navy or black or go the total opposite direction and pick out a print. I really didn't have any basic colorful bottoms! How do these things happen? I'm still working on this, but I have found the perfect red skirt (see my Velma costume on Instagram here). What is your favorite colorful skirt or pant?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, lovelies!

It's my favorite time of year! Fall and Halloween are my absolute favorites. Look at this beautiful scenery! Today is a magical day and I plan on enjoying it to the fullest. Unfortunately, the weather won't be cooperating as much as I would like, but at least it shouldn't be raining.

I bought this skull dress for my rehearsal dinner last year. I couldn't wait to wear it then and I'm still excited to wear it now. Modcloth has the best Halloween items. To make it work appropriate, I threw on this J. Crew Factory blazer. I wasn't sure about the camel color with it, but it's perfectly respectable.

Whether you are going to a party, trick-or-treating, or just staying in to watch a movie, I hope you have the best Halloween!

Plaid and Pleats

Plaid shirts tend to feel casual to me, so I hardly wear them to work. However, paired with a structured blazer and a killer skirt, the plaid shirt has a whole new look. I prefer darker plaids because, to me, I feel as if they can be dressed up a bit more. I am definitely going to be reworking my plaid shirts for work this fall and winter season! J. Crew Factory has a great selection of plaids (as usual) for you to check out!

Little Black Pant

There are days that I am too cold and too lazy. On those days, I wear pants. Generally, the outfit turns out lovely and I actually like what I'm wearing. This will not happen often.

What stores do you like to shop for work pants? Petite styles preferred!

Pumpkin Patches and Plaid

In case you can't tell, Fall and Halloween are my favorites. I am definitely most active in September through November. I try to frequent the orchards as much as possible. While I tend to frequent Tuttle Orchards because of where I work, my favorite is Pleasant View Orchard. There is less to do, especially if you have children, but the prices are lower. It also feels a bit nostalgic for me because we went together as a family when I was a child.

My friend, Samantha, along with her daughter, Elora, joined me in apple picking and pumpkin patching. The day was glorious. It started out chilly, but by the time we carried a peck of apples, two pumpkins, and a 10 month old girl we were sweating. Samantha couldn't resist getting her apple biscuits and I had to grab a couple of caramel apples and apple cider.

After we put Elora down for a nap, we used some of the apples (a peck is A LOT of apples) to make an apple crisp. Since the day was warm, instead of sipping hot chocolate, we sipped on apple cider floats. Here is the recipe I use. We then settled in for some Halloween movie favorites: Halloween Town, Phantom of the Megaplex, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

Birds of a Feather

This outfit is a little different than what I would normally put together. It's not a far stretch, but I wouldn't reach for this first. Occasionally, I forget about pieces in my closet. I rediscovered this Loft dress and decided to take it for another spin. Pairing it with this over-sized cardigan was the greatest thing I could have done. Normally, I would have worn a more fitted cardigan or blazer. This particular cardigan made the outfit feel more unique. I'm now wanting to purchase more items like these! Loft has some great dresses right now - check them out! Watch out credit card.
