Steal Her Look: Dakota Johnson

After the holiday parties have passed and the Christmas presents have been opened, New Year's Eve sneaks upon us like a shimmery shadow in the night. The plaid is tucked away and the jammies are back in the drawers and it's time to pull out that sequined outfit from the back of the closet. Except you have probably worn that same top, dress, or skirt a dozen or so times and it just feels so... blah.

If you are feeling something new try Dakota Johnson's look. A long sleeve sequined dress and some fabulous accessories will help make your night great! Dakota's dress is a mix of metallic sequins, but a solid look will be perfect as well. The faux fur jacket will keep you warm and add extra eye catching texture. Don't forget the strappy shoes and clutch!

Watch the ball drop in a satisfyingly chic and (dare I say) cozy outfit.

Le Tote Style Share

It is always a pleasure to have someone compliment your outfit. It is an even larger honor when someone recognizes and compliments your style.

As most of you know I am a huge fan of the clothing rental site, Le Tote (as seen here, here, here, and here). So, when they asked if I wanted to be featured as their next Style Share of the Week I could not have been more excited!

You can check out my post here. Tell me what you think! And if you want to try Le Tote give me a shout!

Into the (Almost) Woods

As a kid I loved to roam the woods behind the house. We would follow the creek line and explore all day to find nooks to build forts and claim our kingdoms. As an adult this is something we definitely do not do enough. So, seeing all the fallen leaves around the mouth of the creek near my house, I knew I had to play around. It wasn't wooded, but it was fun throwing leaves and trying not to fall in to the creek.

This Le Tote plaid is perfect for such an adventure. Soft and cozy, the detailing on the back is what makes this top stand out. With the weather still hanging around the lower 70's (Fahrenheit), the plaid is thin enough to not make the wearer too hot. If only the weather could stay this beautiful through the winter.

No Capes!

Halloween is my favorite time of the year. The fangirl in me comes alive with a burning passion. Dressing up as my favorite characters? Yes, please!

This year my lovely trio decided (okay I decided) to go as the wonderful ladies of The Incredibles. Elastigirl, Edna Mode, and Violet all made appearances last Saturday. And we went home winner's of the costume contest second year in a row!

If you are looking for a quick and easy costume (for yourself or a group) The Incredibles will save the day!

Elastigirl: This is the easiest. Her costume is the ready-made one from Party City

Edna Mode: I pulled each piece from my closet. Black dress, red necklace, black tights, black shoes, a big black jacket, and (or course) a fancy cigarette holder. You can check your local Targets, Forever 21's, etc. for these pieces - and a party store for the cigarette holder. And then continue wearing them all the time!

Violet: This was a DIY. Red long sleeve shirt, black, yellow, and orange ribbon, black leggings, boots, and mask. If you don't want to take the time to cut the ribbon there are probably some iron-on symbols as well (for example).

All in all a super (see what I did there?) easy costume and incredibly (and again?) comfortable. What are you and/or your squad dressing up as this year?

This is the bag you're looking for...

If you need some fun gear for your Star Wars love! Just in time for the new film, Modcloth has a few deliciously adorable Star Wars themed accessories and clothes. There is even a Darth Vader bag! I knew once I heard a little girl squeal with joy about the Stormtrooper by my side that I made the perfect decision. Too bad I could not have shown her the little treasure of the Ewok coin purse inside. Let your nerd flag fly in the most stylish way!

And while I have always found drop waist dresses to make me look stumpy, I just adore how this tunic dress fits! The bright color, slight nautical details, and preppy vibe makes this a perfect off duty choice.

And if you haven't watched the new trailer yet, take a peek below!

Try This: Bow Blouse

Bow blouses are a fun way to spice up your wardrobe without stepping too far out of a comfort zone. Button one up under a cardigan or blazer for work. Pair a brightly colored blouse with a printed pair of pants for a day out on the town. Tuck one into a pencil skirt for a streamlined and sexy look. You truly cannot go wrong with a bow blouse.

What is your favorite way to wear your bow blouses?

First Frost and Falling Leaves

Allergies were attacking me from every angle, but I couldn't let this pretty day go to waste! There is something no one tells you - it's extremely difficult to throw leaves at the proper time and still look stylish. However, I will say it was fun prancing around collecting leaves and trying not to sneeze everywhere. Shocking how a day starting so chilly (hello first frost!) ended so perfectly fall!
