An Ode to Clara Oswald

I'm not going to write a real ode. I have no sense for poetry. However, this is definitely a style appreciation post of the one and only Clara Oswald

Today is the Series 9 premier of Doctor Who. It is also the last series Jenna Coleman will play Clara Oswald. I thought it pertinent to celebrate today in style, Clara Oswald style. I rounded up one of my best friends, Samantha, to help (just so you know she has never watched Doctor Who and no idea who Clara is).

Sticking to the adventurer style, it was Season 7 Clara we emulated. Her penchant for layers, anorak jackets, and booties are my favorite parts of her early style. It is safe to say that watching this character in Doctor Who has helped my style grow to become what it is today. Seeing her style evolution from full time nanny to full time teacher is spectacular. Season 7 was full of fantastic off duty and adorable outfits. Season 8 showed her in more business casual and streamlined looks. Obviously a job change would result in a wardrobe change, but it could also have been to fit the personality of the Doctor she was traveling alongside. The Eleventh Doctor was more fun and a tad bit goofy. The Twelfth Doctor is definitely more serious and brooding. This stint will make her the longest running companion so far. I will definitely miss all the dresses, peter pan collars, oxfords, and jackets.

So, this is for you Clara Oswald, the most stylish companion yet

Let's Play Dress Up: IAA Prodigy Awards and Dinner

I can remember the days I would filter through my mother's closet, pull out a dress too large, and step in to so-many-sizes-too-big heels. With my hair in a messy nest on top of my head and lipstick not quite straight on my lips, I thought it was the most delightful thing in the world. Now that I am grown up, playing dress up is even more fun.

This is the fourth time I have used Rent the Runway and the fourth time I was most pleased. The event: IAA Prodigy Awards and Dinner. The dress: Mark & James by Badgley Mischka. The unexpected leopard print really brought this dress to life. Gray florals kept the navy color from being too dull. It was the most fun bouncing around in the full skirt

I cannot say it enough, if you have yet to try Rent the Runway, it is time. For your next outing or event, just take a look. I promise, you won't regret it. Playing dress up never ends and there is no better time than now.

Elle Delfine Meets Kora Rae

I absolutely adore being introduced to new clothing shops and boutiques. So, when the Kora Rae PR team contacted me about trying out their line, I knew I was in trouble. After combing through their items on their website, I found a dress that really spoke to me. Their Carolina dress in blush was perfect. Sleek, professional, and charming, there was no way I couldn't not have that dress. So I bought it!

Generally this would be the kind of website that would be out of my price range; however, the quality well makes up for it. Are you looking for a timeless piece to last you a good long time? The Kora Rae collections won't let you down!

And don't forget to check out their Instagram @koraraeprteam

The "Big Apple" Orchard

Besides cozy sweaters and hot chocolate, my favorite part of fall is going to the apple orchards and pumpkin patches. While it is a tad early for picking out the perfect pumpkin, it is definitely the perfect time to pick apples! The weather in Indiana has been sweltering, but finally a crisp wind brought a chill to the air. I figured what better way to spend my Sunday afternoon than to wander around the orchards.

For this excursion, I wanted to be comfortable and warm yet put together. This LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's dress is my favorite go to for my lazy days. The stripes kept me in line with the #StyleMeSeptember style challenge as well! A thinly strapped dress wasn't going to keep me warm, so I added my favorite chunky sweater. And I could not forgot my trusty jacket. Keeping my legs bare meant I really needed some padding up top. For my feet I chose my favorite Oxfords - easy to walk in and the perfect fall accessory.

The orchard in question is the Pleasant View Orchard. If you are ever in Indy you should definitely check it out! Not only are the apples delicious and the pumpkins abundant, but they make the best apple cider and treats. Before heading home I had to nab a gallon of cider and my usual order of caramel apples! I can't wait to make my way back for the pumpkins!

Elle Delfine and the Deathly Hallows

I am screaming it to the world: I got a tattoo! My love for Harry Potter is officially official. Looking at it, it feels like I should have had the dainty Deathly Hallows symbol on the crook of my arm all along. How could I have been missing this accessory for so long?!

If you are following me on Instagram (which you totally should be: @elledelfine) you know I am doing the #StyleMeSeptember style challenge. Today's theme was All Black Like A Spy. The perfect inspiration for debuting my new ink. I chose a simple outfit: lace top and pencil skirt

While the Deathly Hallows symbol is not inherently feminine (or masculine), next to the lace top it seems utterly girly. The simple lines of the symbol can be anything and go with everything! I am seriously excited to see this (permanent) accessory with my other favorite clothing pieces.

LC Lauren Conrad Runway Limited Edition

New York Fashion Week has rolled around once again. As you can imagine I am thrilled. While I wish I could be in New York to behold this beautiful spectacle, I am happy enough to sit on my couch and live stream the shows (sometimes wearing pajamas). To kick the season off, Lauren Conrad debuted her newest collection for her Kohl's line, LC Lauren Conrad, with a limited edition runway compilation.

The runway show has just finished and I am in love. The flirty vibe and airy feel are signature Lauren Conrad. Light fabrics, pretty florals, and perfect pastels made me almost wish to skip ahead to Spring. The entire collection was beautiful, but a few outfits stood out to me - most involving the fit and flare silhouette.

Oh and the best part? You can shop the collection right now here!

The Capsule Wardrobe: The End

The end of my capsule wardrobe challenge could not have come fast enough. It has also taken me quite a long time to recharge and love my clothes again after the fact. The end brought total disdain for what I owned. The thought of making new outfits with what I already had seemed preposterous and the ever growing thought of why can't I just buy new clothes kept creeping into my mind. However, I have overcome that thinking and with a few new pieces, have come to appreciate my wardrobe again.

My aversion to the capsule wardrobe has nothing to do with the capsule wardrobe itself. It is with the limitations it brings. If I were happiest with a black dress and a million necklaces or scarves, this would be perfect for me. But what makes me happy is a floral, a polka dot, a stripe, an orange, or a crazy print dress. The more options I have, the more content I am. The less options I have, the more stressed I become. If you are someone who enjoys letting your accessories do all the talking, someone who does not have a lot of space, or you just really do not enjoy getting dressed in the morning - the capsule wardrobe is for you. If you love every single one of your fifty dresses, you are better off with your 100+ piece wardrobe. I highly suggest regularly filtering through each piece to make sure you do still love them.

Here are my favorite outfit creations of the last 15 days of the challenge:
