Oh My Blazers

It's that time of year - Spring shopping! Everyone at work is discussing what they are wanting to buy to update their wardrobes for the warmer weather. And I am no different. But all this talk about blazers has really made me want to wear mine. I go through phases, but I will always go back to the trusty blazer. Also, watching the early seasons of Gossip Girl again has me feeling UES prep school style. Hello, Blair Waldorf. Needless to say, I am très excited to shop for Spring blazers. Check out some of my favorites below!

Sunglasses and Pants

Pants. I don't enjoy them; however, occasionally I have the urge to wear a pair. Today was one of those days. Being Spring-ish the weather is finicky. The high was only 52 degrees. I am not about to put on tights again (until next season!), so pants seemed reasonable. These light blue pants from Express are perfect for Spring. Not too heavy and the color is divine. I'm still not sure though - should I keep these or move on from them? The sunshine also gave me a chance to finally wear my new sunglasses from Nora NYC! The frames are totally different from anything I have ever worn and the mirror tint is fun. Want to try a pair? You can use the code "mynoranyc" and get 10% off your purchase.

All Green All Day

I am mostly certain I have a slight Irish heritage, but not enough to know how strong my pride should be. I do adore the color green and any excuse to dress up or use a theme is never lost on me. We actually hosted a "St. Puppy's Day" at work on Wednesday the 16th for our residents and resident pets, so this was what I chose to wear. Long ago are the days of flashing shamrock necklaces and green suspenders. How did you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Did you wear your green or did you get pinched?

Pretty in Plaid

Today has proven to be just as beautiful as yesterday. Except it did start raining on me in the middle of my photo shoot. We do need rain - hello green grass! The warm weather is just making me giddy and ready for spring. Cognac, navy, and pink really brighten my mood. If only a picnic was included with the outfit.

Bare Arms

Today was the first day it actually felt warm enough to bare my arms comfortably. Starting with a sweater, I found it was actually too warm. Wearing the sweater over my shoulders helped keep any stray breezes from making me shiver. I need more days like today. If only to just spin around in a dress.

(Not) Rain Boots

Shoes are one of the hardest wardrobe pieces for me to purchase. I think too long and too hard about it. Will this shoe go with most of my wardrobe? Is this too expensive? Am I going to ruin them in two weeks? The process goes on and on. When I do find a pair of shoes that fit what I need (and mostly want) I wear them to pieces. I am on the hunt for a pair of rain boots - ongoing for around a year now. So, what do I wear if it's raining? These beautiful cognac boots from Aldo. The only boots I own that are work appropriate. I have my eye on the Hunter Tour Rain Boots, but it's not in the budget right now. In the mean time I will prance around in my (thoroughly sprayed) Aldo boots.

The Prettiest Dress

The wood detailing of the ceiling was so intricate and beautiful.

Fairy tale staircase in a fairy tale dress.

Staircase to the upper balcony of the sanctuary.

Every detail was so carefully designed.

Each year JC Hart hosts its annual Shining Star Awards for the employees in some lovely setting. This year was no exception. Held at the Indiana Landmark Center, the awards ceremony was stunning. I, as usual, took this opportunity to find a gorgeous dress to wear. Normally, I use Rent the Runway for such situations - they have great finds for even better prices. However, I had been eyeing this Modcloth dress since I saw it on Sarah KJP in October. Alas, in January the dress went on sale and it soon became mine.

If you have ever scrolled through my blog or Instagram (@elledelfine), you know I tend to wear items that cover about every inch of me. I have a long standing issue with my arms - we all have something right? Preparing to wear this dress, I had to do a lot of soul searching and (let's face it) weight training. This was the first strapless something (besides swimwear) that I have worn in years. Needless to say, I was nervous. The outcome was far better than I could ever have imagined. I have mostly conquered my dislike for my arms and am imagining a more fun summer wardrobe! This dress is exquisite in every way. It is sturdy and thick without being hot. The floral stitching is just beautiful. It could have only been better if pockets were involved.

And I know you were just dying to know, I did come away with an award. JC Hart has a set of core values and one of them is innovation. I was the lucky recipient of the innovation award that night. I am so thankful and grateful.
