Blazer with Shorts

August is probably my least favorite month. The beginning of September is a close second. Fall fashions are starting to make appearances in stores. Mornings and nights are starting to cool down. But the Indiana afternoons are sweltering, sticky, and exhausting. Clothes shopping during this time frame is also hard and frustrating. I want to wear the sweaters, blazers, and boots now. Compromises must obviously be made. When I saw another fellow Indiana blogger wear a short and blazer combo, I knew I had to try. Sarah from Sarah's Real Life paired a relaxed gray blazer and denim shorts together for a put together, but not trying to hard look. My blazer selection is rather bare (I'm embarrassed to say), but this option from Le Tote is light enough for the summer weather. Again, I am a bit embarrassed to say that these are the only denim shorts I own. I topped it all off with my favorite pineapple tee. I guess you could say I'm blue obsessed right now. This outfit was so comfortable I was in it all day and could even lounge on the couch without feeling confined. So, let's do this August. Let's do this

Rain, Don't Go Away

Okay, these aren't true Wellies but it's close enough.

It is safe to say that I tend to enjoy things that most people do not. One of those is rain. While I do not enjoy the frizzy hair and the necessity (generally) of an umbrella, I love the chance to wear my rain boots. If I could go forever wearing rain boots, I would. Right now the only pair I own are these awesome Target boots (which are only $40!). I am looking to expand to more colors and brands. My dream rain boots are the Hunter Tour Rain Boots, but I can't justify $150 just yet. These past few days in Indiana have poured buckets of water on us. Okay, it's not so fun to drive in, but I'm having the best time sloshing through puddles. I can't wait to add to my rain boot collection!

Brunch Best

Brunch in the summer is the best time to bring out your most flowy and light dress. When a friend and I decided to have brunch at Good Morning Mama's Cafe, I had one dress in mind. I happened upon this Modcloth dress not too long ago and it is only $24! The fabric feels almost like a cotton/linen blend. It wrinkles very easily, but it's so comfortable to lounge in - dilemma. The embroidery is pretty with different blue tones. It is worthy of being a Sunday best dress.

Stripes at the Shining Stars

Twice a year the company I work for gets together to celebrate the employees. They title the event The Shining Star Awards. During the summer months, the dress code is slightly more relaxed at "summer business casual". Of course, an event like this is the perfect opportunity to find a new dress that is just a little more dressy than usual. I didn't leave myself enough time to shop online, so I had to go to the - gasp - mall. I knew I wanted to visit J.C. Penney to check out the Joe Fresh line. When I arrived and could not find the Joe Fresh selection I almost gave up. Somehow, however, I wandered into the clearance dress selection. I noticed this striped dress and knew I had to purchase it. I just had to make sure it fit and it did! The material is textured and I can't get over the colors. I knew it was just right for the event. The dress will even look perfectly layered with a blazer once the weather turns cooler.
