On My Mind

This month has flown by. With the honeymoon and Thanksgiving being back to back, I feel as if I have been running around like crazy. So much has happened and I am so excited to just snuggle with my dogs and watch Netflix. Or hop back onto a boat heading for the Caribbean again.

Honeymoon: Carnival Conquest Cruise

Doug and I have never been on a cruise before. Honestly, we could not have asked for a better first time. The weather was perfect except for one rainy day. The ship was beautiful. We made some great dinner friends. It was so much fun.

We stopped at St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Puerto Rico, and Grand Turk. My favorite excursion was on St. Kitts. We swam with dolphins! It was amazing and beautiful. My favorite island, though, was Grand Turk. The beaches and the water were fantastic. We snorkeled and wandered around one of the tinier islands.

If you're on the fence about a cruise, I say go for it! Carnival was pretty great. Shout out to Larry - he's the best bartender. We are wanting to do a southern Caribbean and Alaskan cruise next.

Mini Keurig

I do not like coffee. But I love a hot chocolate. I have always wanted a Keurig at home (because I'm lazy), but could never justify buying one. While making my registry, I noticed this mini Keurig on Target's website and thought it was perfect. I have already made countless hot chocolates and I can't wait to try my teas. I am interested in making iced drinks - but that can wait! What are your favorite non-coffee Keurig drinks?

Christmas Music

Now that it's officially after Thanksgiving, I can give my attention to Christmas! The decorations are up (I still need to do the outside) and I am excited for a month of Christmas music. If you're in the Indy area, definitely give 105.7 a listen. The station plays Christmas music 24/7 through Christmas! I adore Christmas music, but only after Thanksgiving - otherwise it becomes too overplayed. I am so ready for the holiday season spirit!

Easy Appetizers

Since I am officially an adult (it's been 9 years really) I feel as if I should be bringing dishes to family gatherings. I love the idea of doing this, but the execution always eludes me. This list of easy appetizer dishes from HouseBeautiful is perfect. Minimal effort, maximum effect. I just love the cheese platter shaped like a tree! It's all in the details.

Beauty and the Beast Trailer

Beauty and the Beast is definitely in my top five Disney movies. I always thought I was like Belle (hello books). When the announcement came they were doing a live action version starring Emma Watson, I probably screamed my excitement. The random photographs from the set and the teaser trailer were killing me with the small details. But finally, a real, longer trailer has been released. Watch here and fall in love again.

Cold Weather Sweater

Vest: Target, Sweater: Target, Shoes: L.L. Bean, Skirt: Pitaya (similar with scallops here), Gloves: Target, Hat: Target (similar here - check stores for this hat)

It's no secret, I absolutely adore Sarah Vickers' style. A lot of my inspiration comes from her Instagram or her blog. When I saw her wearing this outfit (mainly the faux fur vest) on Thanksgiving, I knew I had to try a faux fur vest. For a few years now I have been wanting to try it out, but just never actually got around to it. While out shopping at Target on Black Friday I saw this adorable number and knew I couldn't wait any longer. I picked up the sweater and cold weather accessories as well. It is finally getting cold here in Indiana (I am actually wearing tights today). This is definitely a great look for visiting friends and family or just running errands. The vest keeps you warm without overheating.

Pretty Halloween

Dress: Modcloth, Cardigan: Aeropostale, Shoes: DSW

I was so excited when this Modcloth dress came back in stock (it's once again out of stock). Modcloth has the best Halloween inspired/themed clothing. I actually wore this for my dress rehearsal. And it glows in the dark! It makes a great statement and conversation piece.

Fall(ing) Layers

Sweater: Target (similar here), Shirt: Goodnight Macaroon, Skirt: J. Crew Factory, Shoes: DSW (similar here)

The iPhone finally updated the camera focus. It looks pretty good! I was definitely having way too much fun playing with it, but it does do a good job.

Finally, the leaves have started falling. It wasn't really looking or feeling like fall in Indiana, but I think it's officially here. I love layering and this J. Crew Factory skirt. I knew that the first time I wore it, I had to have the perfect layered outfit. Sweaters are my favorite (as you know) and I love a collar. It was not difficult to pull this outfit together. I just love the black and grey against the color leaves!

Prep Work

Blazer: Target (similar here), Sweater: J. Crew Factory, Skirt: Aeropostale, Shoes: Aldo (similar here), Purse: Haute Look (similar here)

I can usually be found in a plaid skirt throughout most of the fall/winter season. What's not to love about a plaid skirt? I am a huge fan of the prep school look, but sometimes it can be difficult to look adult.I feel like this outfit just has the perfect balance. The skirt gives off a fresh and fun vibe and the riding boots tone it down from being overly "school girl". Topping off any outfit with a blazer also automatically kicks it up a notch. What's your favorite fall/winter go to?

On My Mind

October 29, 2016

I am married! It's definitely all a bit surreal, but I am ecstatic. I honestly didn't think I would feel this happy because we have been together for so long, but it was truly a lovely day. The weather was perfect for our outdoor photos (I was a bit worried about rain and it being too cold). Since Indiana has been so warm, the leaves were still on the trees and the colors were spectacular. Brittany Nickerson Photography photographed the wedding and everything turned out amazing. I cannot wait to get the rest of photos back. The ceremony and reception were both at the Righteous Oaks Ballroom. It was a Halloween themed wedding and the venue was perfect. Think of the Hogwarts Great Hall during Halloween. It was definitely a day of love and I couldn't thank everyone enough from family and friends to the workers at the venue. #millshallowedding

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

The official trailer was released and I am very excited. I was never super into Gilmore Girls, but definitely enjoyed the show. I am currently watching all the seasons on Netflix to remind myself of everything that happened. It's actually a bit strange because when I first watched it, I totally identified with Rory. Now that I'm older, I am finding I identify more with Lorelai. I'm very excited to see where their lives are now.

Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas

The list is up and we are waiting! I don't think actual Christmas decorating should happen until at least after Thanksgiving, but I'm all about the holiday movies. You can see the full list here. Get your schedules ready!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I will be on a boat in the middle of the ocean when this comes out! I'm very upset I won't be able to see it opening night, but I am so excited for the film. Harry Potter was definitely my first fandom obsession and there will always be a place in my heart for it. I know a little about Newt Scamander and his beasts, but it's wonderful to get something brand new. No spoilers!

Goodread's 2016 Reading Challenge

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies. When I'm not taking photos of myself you can one hundred percent bet I'm reading. Right now I'm currently reading "The Things We Wish Were True" by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen. I am currently three books behind schedule. I blame the wedding. We will be shipping off for the honeymoon November 11th and I need some great book recommendations to read on my Kindle. Please send them my way! I desperately need to catch back up and reach my goal of fifty books this year!
