The Old Library

By the time I was old enough to venture to a library without adult supervision, this one had closed. The old library is now a museum. It's generally closed during my off hours, but peeking through the windows it has some beautiful history. It is probably my favorite building in New Palestine. The brick work, the red doors, and the painting on the side. It's small town charm at its best!

I found this Target dress on a shopping trip in which I was looking for a pair of jeans. That's the Target way though right? You always leave with nothing on your list (I did find a pair of jeans that day). I loved the crispness of the dress. Yes, a little black dress is a must, but a little white dress should also be in your closet. The ruffles closed the deal. Shift dresses are hit or miss with me. I'm not tall and I'm a bit curvy. While the dress looks all right on it's own, the belt just added the right pop. I can't wait to style this for work!

Midi Blues

Loft dresses are the best. Being petite, it can be difficult to find dresses that are the proper length. This midi dress is not something I would have originally tried. I tend to shy away from pieces that drop past my knee. However, because it's a petite, I find that it fits as it should and I look just as short as I normally do. The material is so soft and airy that it's perfect for summer. Honestly, I could nap in these styles. Shop more petite Loft dresses here!

Monday Musings

1. I'm not vegan or even vegetarian and I have no plans to be. I do believe everyone should have their options. This video of Harry Potter star, Evanna Lynch, turning recipes from the Harry Potter cook book into vegan recipes is adorable. She mixes up chocolate frogs, butterybeer, and pumpkin pasties. The vegan recipes don't sound too different from the originals and seem rather tasty.

2. The REACT YouTube channel is amazing. From kids to adults, the REACT team goes through different videos, foods, games, music, etc. to see how people react to them. It can be quite hilarious. The videos also tend to make you feel a bit old. One of their newest videos features Fall Out Boy and their new music video. I was well into high school when From Under the Cork Tree was popular. It hardly seems so long ago, but these college kids really made me feel my age.

3. Children's books are the best. Children's books that adults actually enjoy are even better. The New Yorker compiled a few of their previous articles about author's of children's books: "The Authors Who Helped Us Grow Up". From A.A. Milne to J.K. Rowling, the authors are those we continue to love throughout time. These articles make me want to go through these books again!

4. Parks and Rec is one of my favorite shows. I recently watched the series again because it's hilarious and should be watched multiple times. Each time I watch or read something more than once, I find things I hadn't really noticed before. This go around I noticed April Ludgate's style evolution. That girl (okay the on set stylist) really knows her work wear. With the show being off air for some time now, the pieces are definitely not in stock, but this Tumblr dedicated to April's style is great inspiration.

Derby Style

Blazer: GAP Factory, Dress: Modcloth (similar here), Hat: Target (similar here), Shoes: Payless (similar here)

I'm not a gambling gal and I never know which horse I should cheer. I do, however, love getting together with friends and family. While the horse races are only a few seconds, the style lasts all day. The Kentucky Derby is my favorite, but any Triple Crown race is a spectacle to behold. I missed the Preakness Stakes because I was working, but the Belmont Stakes are coming up June 10th! What will you be wearing?

Down the Rabbit Hole

Bunnies are not just for Easter! Victoria Beckham's collection for Target had an Alice in Wonderland theme that I could not resist. The pale pink of this dress is perfect for Spring. Especially when Indiana Springs bring cloudy and rainy days. While it is a simple dress, the White Rabbit heads on the collar add more than enough character. Whether it is worn by itself or layered, this dress will stand out.

Frosty Girls

A trip to New Palestine, Indiana should include a stop at Frosty Boy. If you're watching my Instagram stories, I am there often. Frosty Boy is an adorable, small town ice cream shop (soft serve). You can even purchase food and make it a meal. The food can be related to  ball park food - easy and delicious. Of course, Lela and I had to make a quick stop to get our ice cream fix. We were able to snap a few photos before the rain started and were even mistaken as high school seniors taking senior photos. To the girls who yelled at us from their car while most likely adding us to Snapchat: bloggers gotta blog.

Side note: These Target baseball caps are fantastic. We definitely bought them.

Jump(suit) for Joy

I am definitely on the jumpsuit bandwagon. Being maybe barely 5 feet tall does not bode well when it comes to ground skimming pieces. As I have said numerous times: that is why I love Le Tote. I was able to try this risk free and it paid off. I'm not a huge fan of the top - I wasn't even into the crinkle top when it became big in the early 2000's.
